Stretching your paper | with your Cricut

Welcome to My Blog!
This week, I collaborated with my co-hosts from the Let's Flock Together Facebook group to create a challenge.

Feel free to head over to the Facebook group and participate in this challenge: Choose your favorite CTMH sketch and recreate it.

My choice was Roxie!

I really enjoyed using the curved text feature in Cricut Design Space. Design Space offers a variety of exciting features, so I recommend exploring them if you haven't already!

Roxie suggests a double layout, but I opted for the left side to match my single photo. I made a video on my YouTube channel about saving paper while using your Cricut. Watch it here:

Scrapbooking Global Hop Stampin' Up! Sketch

Welcome to the Scrapbooking Global Blog Hop!

This month our Guest Designer Margaret Hammersley Spencer has chosen a sketch for us to create our layout around this time...

We have been given the freedom to rotate, flip or just make our own version of it.

Looks like a FUN Sketch with 3 photos and some fun grunge/creative masks in the background.
Now without further ado, here is my take on this sketch:

I used the Close to My Heart Collection Let's Go Anywhere. This is no longer available to purchase. However it worked perfectly for the photos I had in mind. I used light stenciling in the background in the colors Toffee and Mink.

Small sticker accents above the photos are placed to draw the eye in.

A main focal point or the Top of my visual trial angle uses a larger accent piece.

My title came from the Let's Go Anywhere die cut collection and completes my visual triangle.

You can watch my thought process behind making this layout in this video! As a visual person myself, I understand when folks need just a little more how'd you do that.... Scroll down to see the video.

Thank you so much for joining the hop today!

Be sure to check out Tania Brown interpretation of this sketch by clicking the next logo below!

Little Scraps Make Perfect Cards

Little Scraps Make Perfect Cards

Hello!

After completing your projects, you fall into one of two categories: Type A: You carefully gather and store your scraps for potential future use. Type B: You discard them in the recycling bin without hesitation and continue with your paper-crafting. If you resonate with the first scenario, this tutorial is tailored for you! However, if you align with the second scenario, this project is also perfect for you! So, dive in and read until the end, as it will inspire you to create unique cards using your scraps repeatedly after each project, resulting in a card that is the same yet different every time!

To make this card you will need the following cuts:
(8) 1 1/4 x 1 1/4 squares - each square should be a different coordinating pattern or cardstock color
(1) 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 square - neutral color
(1) 2 1/4 x 2 1/4 Square (white daisy)
(1) 4 x 5 1/4 White daisy
(1) 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 coordinating cardstock
(1) card base

Arrange your 1 1/4 x 1 1/4 squares on the white daisy in the shape of a Letter "C" as noted in the photo above.
Stamp or embellish your 2 1/4 x 2 1/4 White daisy square as desired and adhere to your neutral cardstock 2 1/2 x 2/12 square.
Pop up your neutral 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 with 3D foam tape and secure in the blank space.
Adhere the white daisy 4 x 5 1/4 to the 4 1/4 by 5 1/2 coordinating cardstock.
Adhere your project to your card base.

Here is another sample with the squares placed opposite of the directions for a variation:

If you are visual person like me, here is a video tutorial of this process:

60+ layout ideas!

As my time with Close to My Heart comes to a close on April 30th, 2024, I wanted to reflect on some of my beloved layouts. These include designs of my own creation, those from Close to My Heart, and some inspired by Pinterest, using the CASED approach (Copy And Share Everything). Additionally, I'd like to offer some helpful tips for when you create your own layouts!

When crafting your scrapbook masterpiece, keep these gems in mind:

  • Spread the love: Think of each layout as a dynamic duo, with pages working together to tell your story.
  • Add personal pizzazz: Toss in treasured keepsakes like old tickets for that extra personal touch.
  • Play with words: Mix up fonts, sizes, and colors to jazz up your design. Don't forget about funky pre-made Titles!
  • Layer like a pro: Stack embellishments behind photos and pop them up with 3D foam tape for that 3D magic. Start with florals for that charming finish.

Which layout(s) do you find most appealing? Which one is motivating you to organize your supplies? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below! And don't forget to show your support by liking and subscribing for more engaging DanYellScraps content!

At no additional cost to you, shop 24/7 on my CTMH website www.danyellscraps.closetomyheart.com for some amazing close out deals now through April 30th, 2024
