Practice makes perfect...

Welcome to DanYellScraps!
If you have been following along, you know I have been trying my hand at the One Sheet Wonder technique/method. I am attempting to use up my Stargazer paper packet - so far i have made 3 cards using this technique, and I. STILL. HAVE. MORE. PAPER.  Frugal city right there.

As promised,  I have one more set. This set uses the last sets template, with some tweaking. And, I love this set! The main pacifica blue sheet is supposed to be my focal sheet, and the stripped red sheet is my accent sheet. So maybe this is a 1 1/2 sheet wonder!?!?! Really I just cut the red at 5.25 and 4 to create backgrounds.

Once again, I am bashing my stash, so you will see some retired products. As I have said before,  those sequins, ribbons etc, are doing no good sitting in the hoarders drawer (I am talking to you)! ;)

Set one - the bottom left is my FAVORITE! I just used scraps to make the banners, added a ZIP strip, and BOOM a cute card. I knew I had it in me!!! :) Hehe
Adding sequins and red shimmer trim, really helped these paper pop. The It's your birthday sentiment is from the MARCH Stamp of the month 'Birthday Times'

Same Stamp sentiment 'it's your birthday used here in this set. My Favorite of this group is , the top right card. It reminds me of curtains pulling open for a play!

The last set uses more sentiments for the March Stamp of the month. My Favorite is the '1 Year Older' Stamp. I stamped the 'year older' on a Zip Strip and fussy cut it out. I then adhered it on top of the main '1 year older' image to give it some dimension. Add some shimmer trim, and sequins and you have a set of cards!!!!

I'd love to know your thoughts on one sheet wonder cards!

Thank you for stopping by! I hope i have given you some inspiration.

If you are interested in the March Stamp of the month, and need a consultant, I'd love to work with you.

One Sheet Wonder - Attempt #2

Welcome to DanYellScraps!

If you have been following along, then you know that I have been working on perfecting the One Sheet Wonder technique.

I am on attempt number two, and while I am adding a bit more detail (embellishments), designing the pattern to create effective paper placement is my goal. This is a completely different pattern design then the PML cards on the last one. I am getting there, don't ya think?!?!

You can see I am still using the Stargazer paper from Close to My Heart. This is the featured paper of March. Since I needed some more Thank you cards (and Birthday) I set the March Stamp of the Month "Birthday Times' aside.  I am using 'All the Thanks' stamp set. Now that I am done I think that stamp set would have fit just fine.

Okay on to the cards...Here are all twelve of them.

I used my stash, and so you will see some retired bling in here, and that some current. If it sits in my bling stash, it does me no good!!
All the cards are stamped in Pomegranate ink, outlined using the Marvy Journaling pen (my Favorite thing to do and pen to use), and some shimmer trim here and there.

These three cards are my favorite, I thinks its the arrows, yes, definitely the arrows.

I will be honest here, I messed up the Sincere Thanks stamp on the first card, and in my Bling Box, was this pre-stamped 'Beautiful You' {Stamp + Thin Cut set} rose in canary yellow and coordinating leaves. So, I believe it was meant to be...the Canary Rose is my favorite of these three, What's yours?

These three of my least favorite. I am not sure if it the placement of the sentiments, or the simmer trim on the last one, but they look to 'thrown' together for me. But I made them, and it's just paper, and well, they are still useful!

As I finish up this post, I am waiting on my phone to charge so I can take pictures of my third One Sheet Wonder Set! I used this pattern, however it has been tweaked. I actually love this set!

I still have enough paper to make cards after this next set up coming up....so that is 36 cards from one paper pack so far, and I still have more paper! OH that is the best! FRUGAL Crafting right!!!

See ya tomorrow (I Hope) for one more post on the One Sheet Wonder, and this set will have the March stamp of the month. Since ya, know the 31st is the LAST day to get it.

I hope i have given you some inspiration!
Happy Crafting
Danielle

One Sheet Wonder and Stargazer and March SOTM- SAY WHHHHHHHAAATTT!

Welcome Back to DanYellScraps!

One sheet wonders are NOTHING new to the card making world. They are new to me! I have I NEVER. EVER. NOT. ONCE created a one sheet wonder card set let alone a template. So I get these light bulb moment after browsing Pinterest for a morning that I can not only make my own OSW template, but I can make a set of cards too!

All in a days work! I created 12 cards from ONE PML sheet featured in the Stargazer paper collection. Who does that?!? Well, obviously, I do! So it wasn't super hard, but I was surprised at how easy it was come up with the cuts, and how I had to be creative when playing to make those cuts come to life on a card.

Here is the PML Sheet I used.

Now for the Cards:

The March Stamp of the Month
Birthday Times (S1803)

No too bad for my first go around with the OSW. I have some tweaking to do, but I am going to use the rest of the Stargazer paper pack to play with the OSW technique. Stay tuned for those cards to make an appearance. :)

Supplies Used:
Circle Thin Cuts (on sale until 3/31/2018)
Stargazer paper packet (PML SHEET)
White Daisy Card Bases & Envelopes
March Stamp of the Month: Birthday Time (available through 3/31/2018)
Inks:

  • Black Archival ink
  • Pacifica Ink

CTMH Technique Blog Hop - Purposeful Patterns

Hello & welcome back to DanYellScraps!
So today, is a special treat, because it is the monthly Technique Blog Hop! If you arrived here from Michelle Loncar's blog  , then you are on the right track! If you are just joining in now, this hop is focusing on Close to My Heart's make it from the heart pattern books.

A little bit about the Make It From Your Heart Volume 3 pattern book; It fits inside our Everyday Life™ albums for easy and convenient transportation (sold separate). Includes 36 two-page layout patterns for standard photo sizes, as well as artwork inspiration demonstrating how to incorporate additional photos using our Pocket Plus™ and pocket scrapbooking Memory Protectors™. Layouts are organized by the number of photos they use. It arrives as loose, 3-ring hole-punched pages; 8⅜" × 6⅞".

Each of us has chosen a pattern to show case in either a layout or a card.

My pattern is from Make It From Your Heart Vol 3,  pattern #9

Check out the cute fish swimming by, and the adorable starfish floating around! Fussy cutting scraps of paper helps stretch your paper and your imagination, in this case helping me create the underwater scene I was looking for. Not to undermine the ombre title 'Mermaid Hair Don't Care'. Inked in Glacier and Lagoon.

Adding gold pearl gems to the mermaids hair, and some doodling around the journaling areas helps accent and draw the eye in.

My favorite aspect about the pattern books, besides the full cutting diagrams, are the two layout suggestions in full color photos, and finally an artwork tip! All of these helped me create my layout with ease and style.

Get your pattern book today; and then head on over to Michelle Johns Blog My Flights Of Fancy.

Thank you for hopping along today, below are a list of supplies used and their item numbers for your reference.
