You can choose to make the quick & simple cards using the Lovely Sticker sheet OR create your own
icons using stamps and watercolorsI. 

You choose which set of cards meets your comfort level.
With this cutting guide you can create ten cards (two of each) using the sticker sheet OR stamp set. If you are new to learning how to use watercolors, you can replicate the sticker images to help learn shading

Hello! Welcome to the second challenge in April with H2H Challenges.  This week our challenge is Old and New and the goal is to use something Old and Something new on your project(s).

Let's talk really quick about what I used VS what the cutting guides suggest. If I purchased the Eat Pray Love cardmaking workshop kit, I would receive:  1 – exclusive stamp + Thin Cuts, 3 – Eat Play Love patterned paper sheets, 5 – cardstock sheets (2 Candy Apple, 1 Lagoon, 2 White Daisy), 1 – White Flower Sequins (Z3872), 16 – white card bases & envelopes, printed instructions <--- I will explain how to get these WITHOUT a purchase. 

So, I love using what I have in my stash, and since I didn't have the adorable stamp set suggested in the guides, I picked up one I have on hand, Kitchen Gnomes. Next I has SCRAPS of paper left over my adorable Cook Book Album made with EAT PRAY LOVE and so I used those! I only had enough to make 1 each of 3 cards, but guess what, I have the guides to make 16 cards of whatever paper collection and stamp sets i have on hand later. 

I added a little sass the cards using some silver and gold stickles

To give this gnomes chef coat some buttons I added onyx liquid pearls.

Adding some more stickles to the whisk! really makes this gnome pop and tie in the sentiment.

Why I love simplistic layouts

Hey there! 

Do you ever look at a page and think OMG I love it. There so much detail and craftsmanship that goes into the page, you fall in love with the layering and texture. Then the photo balances it all out! Yeah, me too! 

Then I sit down and gather my supplies and get to work!

I find that as I am working all of those details that made that page perfect are things I don't have.  Or perhaps I have something close to it, but not exactly and before I know it, I pushing my project off the table because it just doesn't measure up. So, guess what I stopped doing, I stopped trying to make those elaborate pages ALL. OF. THE. TIME. 

I have this collection on my desk.... SO. MANY. AMAZING. IDEAS. come to mind....

Back to basics, simplicity helps me knock out my pages, helps capture the memories and build my books. Does that mean I scrapped my pinterest boards, No! Does that mean I have pushed the idea of elaborate pages aside, NO! It just means I cut myself some slack! 

So here is today's layout:

I love simplicity layouts, they leave so much room for adding stickers, die cuts, cricut cuts and even changing the layout or orientation of the page. :) 

My favorite part is the tone on tone background stamping on this page, to create my own custom pattern paper. 😍

How to Tame Busy Paper!

Eat Pray Love is the April paper featured during this month! Designed to celebrate creativity from the kitchen to the craft room as a bright, cheerful paper collection!

While the paper is bright and cheerful, it is busy too. Sometimes busy paper is intimidating, but I want to share an easy tip to help eliminate those fears of working with busy paper. 

Small pieces,  thats right,  this one tip, will get you back to creating without boundaries.  Simply use the busy paper in small, complimentary sizes.

Why I Started My Own Stamping Business!

 Did you know today is Empowered Women Entrepreneurs Day? So in honor of this occasion, I am going to tell you exactly why I started my own stamping business with Close to My Heart. 

I have been scrapbooking for over 20 years. I started when I was 16 years old,  I started a new journey, and I also had to close a chapter as an emancipated youth. To help me deal with the closure process, my Aunt gifted me a scrapbooking kit from a big box store and said "Document the GOOD, the BAD and anything in between. So I did just that, and here is that beautiful,  20+ year book. I captured my mother's  pregnancy, my birth and ended the book with my college years. 

Since then I have filled so many scrapbooks with wonderful memories for myself and family members, that I HAD to show others what they could do to preserve their memories. So I started buying from a variety of companies that offered a consultant program. I was looking for a company that was geared towards scrapbooking, and had quality products. The next part is not bashing one company against the other, but it was a big reason why I choose CTMH. When placing my orders, the CTMH consultant was the only one to reach out to me with a follow up. Customer service is HARD, I worked in that industry for 20+ years before starting my stamping business. I have done it all, from a server to an international export specialist for a reputable battery company. That being said, the customer service by following through/up with me was what I needed to know CTMH would be the avenue I would use to spread my love of memory keeping and bring an income into my home. 

In 2017, I become a full time stay at home mom to our 4 children. I will celebrate 5 years of longevity with CTMH this month. Looking back on my journey, I am not only proud of my success in my business, but still very much in love with my job. Because I now do what I love, I have yet to work a day in 5 years. 

I hope I have inspired and empowered you to take that leap of faith and start your entrepreneurs dream today, whatever that might me.
