Canary, Lagoon, sapphire, CuTe CaRd!

Hello Crafty Friends! 

Last night in my VIP group, we played a little mystery game to make a card. 

I use a little app on my phone to spin 4 different wheels (think the popular game show that uses a wheel) each with a different set of parameters.  I go live in my group with a special guest group member. Together we create a card based off those parameters.  

The surprise elements were: 

Theme: Birthday card

Colors: Canary, Lagoon and sapphire colors

Embellishments: Clear sparkles

CHANCE: Leaves! 

Here was my interpretation of those parameters! 

I absolutely love how it turned out. 

I water colored the flowers with CTMH water-based dye inks. HOW? By smooshing some color onto my all purpose mat, I used my Med water brush to pick up some color and paint. 

The key is to keep your water less, especially if you're not using watercolor paper. Also make sure your using an ink that will not bleed with the water. I used archival black ink. 

To stick with the parameters,  to get my green leaves, I used Canary and Lagoon mixed together ❤  cute green, right!

My Goals are not Your Goals.

Hello Crafty Friends,

So its February 1st and I finally worked out my goals for the year pages. This is where I can write my goals down and be accountable to myself. I snapped my picture before I started writing, for a couple of reasons. 

1. Some of these will be personal

2. My goals are not your goals. 

What do I mean by that? I am personally challenging you to create a layout with your goals for the year, and I want them to be your goals not mine. Now I am not tooting my own horn and saying what my goals are, will be everyone's goals. But I really want you to dig deep and pull inspiration from whats around you, what you want to happen, what you want to change....that can only come from within! 

My layout is inspired by a sketch from pinterest. 

My paper is, well all scraps from my stash (I am not cutting up paper for random layouts) because scraps need love too. 

My stamping comes from 2 stamp sets.

Doodle Borders on pages and cards?

Hello Crafty Friends, 

When you doodle, how do you do it? With a journaling pen, with stamps or both? I typically use my pen. I often just add a little line and call it a day. However last fall, about November I started adding additional details to my lines with mini and micro stamps. So starting today, Close to My Heart introduced a new stamp set focuses around doodles and borders, called.... Doodle Borders!

HUGS Card: 

With Valentines day upon us (13 days away) I whipped up this cute card, and added the Doodle Borders heart stamp in Peach and the only sentiment in black at the bottom! A little wispy embellishing thread behind the sentiment draws your eye in. The itty bitty (they truly are itty bitty) sparkles gives off the right amount of, well, sparkle. I finished embellishing my card with a doodle border with my black journaling, and adding some shimmer to my squares. Super cute, right? 

Say What? Layout:

Next I have a 12x12 page to show off, using this new stamp set, Doodle Borders. Again this stamp set is CHUCKED full of doodles and border stamps. Before I forget, my layout is made with only scraps. On the lagoon piece (top) you can see a very cute loop stamp repeatedly stamped from left to right. The Bluebird piece (center left) you can see all of these tick like mark doodles. This stamps set is a small square and with some careful placement and repeated stamping the entire piece was covered in no time at all.  To wrap up my doodle stamping, I used the sentiment included in the stamp set, to repeatedly stamp all over the clover cardstock. For each one of these pieces, I used tone on tone stamping, or I used the same color of ink as the paper in which I was stamping. Lagoon ink on Lagoon cardstock, Clover ink on Clover Cardstock and Bluebird ink on Bluebird Cardstock. I love the look of this so much.

I stamped blank White Daisy  with the quotable words stamps. The fun title comes from the NEW Marquee Alphabet stamp set!

With February just around the corner, this I felt like this was just a perfect kind of card to create. the supplies used are listed below. 

This card uses some ink blending with the picked raspberry and candied apple distress oxide inks. Then a quick die cut using the Tabbed Doors Card Front Thin Cut. Each door and window was stamped using the "You're My Jam" stamp set!
