H2H Weekly Challenge| Invitation Only

I am so excited you are back to check out this weeks challenge! This week we are setting the challenge to create and invitation or to scrapbook an invitation. I am choosing to scrapbook an invitation!

What a surprise when I received a letter in the mail, inviting me to the Sandusky County Chamber of Commerce's Annual Awards banquet! I was nominated for Citizen of the Year in Sandusky County. WHAT!?! ME? Did they get the right Danielle?
I have no idea who nominated me, nor what I am doing that lead me to be qualified for this award. I suspect it is the community service projects my cub scouts, their parents and myself tackle all year long. But that is the point, so you keep doing the good deeds unknowingly.

The evening was fun, I was able to catch up with my long time Friend Leah! We had a wonderful dinner with lots of chatter and laughing. It was not until the end when the Citizen of the Year was announced. I was sitting on the edge of my seat. Secretly I wanted to win, I was nervous, because all the recipients were giving thank you speeches. I was sort of sweating bullets on what to say. I mean I was only able to guess what I had done to deserve a nomination, let alone a win. Finally at last the  winner began describing the 2019 winner. I immediately knew I was the runner up, as they described the 2019 winner as one who has dedicated 38 years to community service, I have only been alive for 37! Clearly not me. Hehe! I didn’t realize just how many talented and dedicated souls there are in my community, they go far beyond the call of duty! It was such an honor to be nominated. I will continue to serve my community, day after day, and year after year even if it means, I will never be nominated again. I mean isn’t that what you are supposed to do anyway?
Their theme was 'CLUED IN', and everything was from the table settings to the menu featured a token or verbiage from the family favorite board game.

To enter this weeks challenge head to the H2H challenge page and here here! Remember to included Close to My Heart product(s).

Here is my layout featuring my invitation to such a fun night! I used scraps from I Heart Us to create a layout!

Lovely Layers - CTMH Technique Blog Hop

Welcome Back!

Todays CTMH Technique Blog hop is focusing on Layer designs in our artwork whether it’s through the use of various papers, clusters of embellishments, or stamp images that allow for layering! If you have arrived from Valerie's Blog, you are on the right track!

In my layout, you can see that I have a few areas that have layers to them.
For starters the base page is lagoon cardstock, with a layer of thistle cardstock, followed by a layer of the I Heart Us B&T paper. You also notice my photos holders have layers to them, coordinating colors of Lagoon cardstock the darker side, along with Canary cardstock.

You can also find layers in my cricut cut flowers. Then again you will find layers in the small cluster of sequins and hearts at the bottom right hand corner. Bounce to the top and you will layers of sequins on the banner.

Here is another layout that is full of layers that you can see my tutorial on my YouTube channel on my previous blog post here.

Whats your favorite way to add layers to your artwork? I'd love to know leave a comment below!

Now head on over to Katy's blog for her layer technique!

Using your paper Scraps| Overlay Collage

Don't throw your scraps away....

Well may be the itty bitty ones, but I have a cute way to use up some scraps that won't sit at the bottom of your scrap pile waiting for it's day to shine (that was a bit dramatic - but you get my point).

I was scrolling one of my favorite artwork groups for CTMH cards, layouts and such, when I came across a fellow consultants (Lara Moss) post. She had shared a beautiful layout created with an overlay she purchased. I knew I could do that (not better necessarily, just that I could do that) so I sat down to Design Space, and starting playing with the overlays found on my Artbooking and Artistry CTMH Cricut cartridges. Once I found overlays that I thought would look the best, I found a basic image and went to work.

Here is my finished layout:

I filled in all the spaces with scraps from the I Heart Us paper packet. Layered this using 3 D dimensions on top of a heather gray cardstock sheet. A lagoon photo matte 3.24x4.25 was added with a banner heat embossed in Ranger White Embossing powder. The Banner and sentiment can be found in the Stamp of the Month Set for the Month of February item# S1902

Below is a video following the completion of this layout, and below there you will find the FREE Design Space Link to create your own overlay collage layouts.

Get your Design Space Link here: Star/heart Collage overlay
(must have artbooking and artistry cricut cartridges to cut the images)

TriColor Stamping| Featuring the Stamp of the Month

Your New Favorite Thing...

I love bring something very simple and putting a creative twist on it! I love the finished stunning look that tri-color stamping offers!

Tri-color or rainbow stamping is nothing new, it's an oldie but goodie that fit this layout perfectly!

Here is a written tutorial (Below is a video tutorial)
Base page - season mix in 12x12
White Daisy 11x11 (should have been 11.5x11.5)

I used the tricolor technique by adding thistle then raspberry, followed by lagoon inks, careful not to overlap the colors and stamping in the center/bottom of the layout.

Next using a grey watercolor pencil, I splattered drops over the white daisy card stock.

Photo mattes are 3.25 x 4.25 from the seasons mix in.

Scraps of I Heart Us can be found as banners and cut aparts.

The three 'pink' sequins are actually white sequins, found in the loose sequins - silver collection, and colored with the cherry pink ShinHan marker and adhered with liquid glass.

I am scrapbooker at heart, and absolutely love this stamp set! I think this would be great used in the black magic technique, what do you think?
Let me know below in the comments.

Stamp of the Month| Technique Tip

Watercolor Pencils + Shimmer Brush

Check it out, when you use watercolor pencils and a waterbrush you get the similar effect of using watercolor paints...but when you dab out some Clear Shimmer, and add that to your work area....you are on a whole new level of awesomeness!

This little shimmer trick blew my mind (once I figured it out)

Here is my finished layout - This shimmer is so hard to capture in a picture, but I do have a video that you can see exactly how to achieve this!

Here is a basic step by step:
  • I used watercolor pencils for all the coloring.
  • I colored in the flowers by dipping my wet waterbrush into some clear shimmer I had squeezed out on to my work surface. It's stunning in person, not captured to well in the picture.
  • For the letters I colored the top in a shade of pink and the bottom in a shade of purple to each letter. When I added my waterbrush, I let the colors blend in the middle for somewhat of an ombre feel.
  • The banner I colored using yellow, then gray over the curves for a shadow look. I omitted coloring the center to give the appearance of light shining there.
  • My heart is cut at 10" adhered to a 12x12 Lagoon mix-in paper. Flipped the Lagoon mix in paper over and used the raspberry dotted paper as a photo matte 3x3.
  • I Heart Us paper scraps were used to create a cricut flower, the banners and the paper stips at the top and bottom.
  • I finished off my triangle effect by placing three loose sequins - silver in the bottom right corner.

For those that are like me, and love to see things in action here is the replay of the Facebook Live posted to my YouTube Channel! :)
